Demand Planning and Forecasting

Demand Planning and Forecasting

Organizely's Demand Planning tools use your historical sales to predict what you will run out of, tell you how much to reorder, and turn those recommendations into supplier purchase orders. You can also set up email alerts so low stock never catches you off guard. Find everything under Demand Planning in the sidebar.
Note: Demand Planning is available to admins and managers by default. Admins can adjust who has access under Team → Roles and Permissions.

What you can do

  • See what is at risk. The overview dashboard predicts stockout dates, days of stock remaining, and the potential revenue lost if an item runs out.
  • Get reorder recommendations. Organizely calculates reorder points and suggested quantities that account for lead times, safety stock, and stock already on the way.
  • Generate purchase orders. Turn the forecast into supplier-grouped suggested POs and hand them off to a pre-filled new purchase order.
  • Create work orders for items you make. Forecast rows for manufactured items offer a per-row action to start a work order (requires Raw-Material Tracking, Pro plan).
  • Set stock alerts. Create low-stock threshold alerts and weekly stockout-summary emails, scoped as broadly or as narrowly as you need.
  • Tune the math. Adjust forecasting parameters, safety stock levels, and calculation preferences in Demand Planning → Settings.

How forecasting works

The overview (Demand Planning → Overview) is your AI-powered demand planning dashboard. Based on each item's sales history, Organizely predicts future demand and a projected stockout date, shows the sell-out days remaining, flags products at risk of running out and estimates the potential revenue loss, and suggests a reorder quantity (capped at the variant's maximum stock level, with incoming stock netted out so you do not double-order). You can filter by urgency and potential loss, search for products, and sort by the metric you care about.
Tip: Forecast quality improves with sales history, so newer products with little history will have rougher forecasts.

Where to go next

  • How forecasting works and how to set it up : connect your store, set defaults, run a calculation, and read the results.
  • Reorder: generating purchase orders : turn the forecast into supplier-grouped draft POs.
  • Stock alerts : low-stock threshold and weekly summary emails.
