The Assign Inventory page shows every product that still has stock which has not been placed in a specific warehouse location, and lets you assign those units to bins so you always know where each item physically lives. This is where you turn a raw on-hand count into a real "this variant is in this bin" record.
What "unassigned inventory" means
Organizely tracks a total available quantity for each product variant. Assigning inventory to locations splits that total across the physical bins where the units actually sit. Any units that have not been placed in a bin yet are counted as "unassigned". The Assign Inventory page surfaces exactly those units so nothing gets lost on the shelf.
You need access to the Warehouses area to assign inventory. Bins are set up under Warehouses → Manage first (the location hierarchy is Warehouse, Area, Shelf, Bin). If you have not built out your warehouse yet, create at least one bin there before assigning.
Find products with unassigned inventory
Open Warehouses → Assign Inventory.
Review the list. Each row shows the product, how many of its variants still have unassigned inventory, and the total number of unassigned units.
To narrow the list, type a product name in the search box and click Search. Use Clear to reset it.
The list is paginated at 20 products per page. Use Previous and Next to move between pages.
If the list is empty, every variant already has its inventory assigned to warehouse locations, so there is nothing left to place.
Assign inventory to a bin
Click a product row (or View Details) to open its assignment dialog.
The dialog lists each variant that has unassigned inventory, along with the bins it is already in and how many units remain to assign.
Click Assign to Bin on the variant you want to place.
If your organization uses more than one store location, choose the store location first. The picker marks your default location and shows how many units are unassigned at each one.
In the bin search, type to find the bin you want, then select it. Only bins can be chosen as a destination.
Enter the quantity to assign. It defaults to the number of unassigned units. If you enter more than is available, Organizely shows a warning so you can double-check (it does not block you).
Click Assign. A confirmation appears once the units are placed, and the list refreshes to reflect the change.
Do not see the bin you need in the search? Use the Manage bins link in the dialog (it opens Warehouses → Manage in a new tab) to create it, then come back and assign.
Track quantity by location
Each variant in the assignment dialog shows the bins it currently occupies and the quantity in each one, plus how many units are still unassigned. You can:
Expand a bin assignment to review or update the quantity stored in that bin.
Use Assign to Bin again to split the same variant across several bins (or across store locations, if you have more than one).
This keeps the per-bin counts in step with what is physically on the shelf.
View inventory distribution
To see how a single product's stock is spread across your whole warehouse:
Open the product from Catalog → Products.
Go to its Locations tab.
The Locations tab shows the product's inventory distribution across all warehouse locations, so you can confirm where every unit lives at a glance.
