Oppy's chat has been rebuilt so you can see what it is doing and steer it while it works. This guide covers the live progress list, stopping an answer, adding guidance mid-answer, editing or rewinding a message, charts and illustrations in answers, buttons that jump you to the right page, work checklists, what Oppy remembers about you, and drafting an SOP with Oppy.
Who can use it
Oppy is available on the Pro, Scale, and Enterprise plans. On Starter the whole Oppy AI section is hidden.
Anyone on your team who can open Oppy can chat with it, and everyone can see the approval cards Oppy stages and their current status. Deciding on those cards, meaning approve, deny, request changes, undo, or retry, requires a Manager role or higher. See the Oppy approvals guide for that flow.
Where to chat with Oppy
There are two places, and they share the same conversations:
The Oppy button in the top bar, which slides out a panel over whatever page you are on.
Oppy AI > Chats , the full page view.
The slide-out panel has Recent chats and New chat in its header, plus a link that opens the current conversation on the full page. A fresh conversation greets you with "Hi, I'm Oppy" and "Ask me anything about your inventory, orders, or forecasts", plus starter suggestions you can tap:
"What products are low in stock?"
"Show me recent order trends"
"Which suppliers have the best lead times?"
"What are my best-selling products?"
Closing the panel does not end the chat or stop the answer in progress. The conversation stays with you as you navigate the app and survives a page refresh in the same browser tab. Starting New chat is how you leave a conversation and begin a fresh one.
When a chat you started finishes on its own, an amber dot appears on the Oppy button, and a row appears in the Notifications bell dropdown reading, for example, Oppy finished "your chat title".
Watching Oppy work
While Oppy is answering, its reasoning appears as a Thoughts chain: a short list of steps, one row each, that fills in as it works. The chain opens on its own while the turn is running so you can watch it, then collapses shortly after the answer lands. Collapsed, a finished turn reads "Thoughts · 5 steps" and you can expand it again at any time.
Each step gets a plain-language label such as "Comparing supplier costs", and the step that is currently running shows a live elapsed timer beside it. These labels are summaries written for you to read. Oppy's raw internal reasoning is never shown.
Stopping a response
A square Stop response button sits next to the message box for the whole time Oppy is working on your request. Press it to end the current answer. Anything Oppy already staged for your approval stays where it is, and stopping an answer does not undo work that was already applied.
Stop applies to the answer you typed. Work Oppy is doing on its own, such as a scheduled action or something started by a call or a text, cannot be stopped this way, and Oppy tells you so: "Oppy is running this one in the background. It will finish on its own."
Guiding Oppy mid-answer
You do not have to wait for Oppy to finish before adding a correction or extra detail. While Oppy is working, the message box placeholder changes to "Add guidance while Oppy works..." and a separate Send guidance to Oppy arrow appears next to the stop button. Send your note and Oppy picks it up at its next step ("Oppy will see this at its next step").
This is the fastest way to redirect a long job, for example, naming the location you actually meant or telling Oppy to skip a supplier.
If the guidance arrow is not there, for instance because you have a file attached to the message you are writing, send your message once the current turn finishes.
Your draft is never thrown away. If a message cannot be sent right at that moment, Oppy keeps it and tells you that it is still working and your message will be kept until the turn finishes.
Editing and rewinding your messages
Hover over any message you sent and two actions appear: Edit and Rewind.
Edit reopens your message so you can reword it, then Save and resend runs it again. Resending replaces all later messages in this chat, and the app says so right above the button. Any files you attached are kept.
Rewind takes the conversation back to that point and removes the messages after it.
Rewind always opens a confirmation first, headed Rewind this conversation, which tells you exactly what happens. Rewinding removes messages from the conversation, but it does not revert changes that have already been applied to your data. The confirmation lists what stays applied, with an Open in approvals link for each one, notes which undecided proposals will be retracted, and says if an open work checklist from that range will be abandoned. When something is already applied you also have to tick a box confirming you understand it stays applied before the rewind button becomes active.
Rewinding is a conversation cleanup, not an undo. If you need to reverse a change Oppy already applied, use the undo action on that proposal in Oppy AI > Approvals instead. Undo restores records only: anything already sent out, such as an email or a push to a connected store, is not reversed.
Attaching files, pasted text, and screenshots
Use the Attach files button in the message box to add documents for Oppy to read. Two shortcuts save you a step:
Pasting a large block of text, roughly 25 lines or more, turns it into a file attachment instead of an enormous message. If it looks like a table, it is attached as a spreadsheet so Oppy reads the rows properly.
Pasting a screenshot attaches it as an image.
Charts and images in answers
Oppy can answer with an inline chart instead of a wall of numbers. Bar, line, and donut charts are supported, with up to six series in one chart.
Oppy can also include generated images. These are always captioned as AI-generated. They are made to explain something, never photographs of your own equipment or products.
Jumping to the right page
When an answer relates to a specific screen, Oppy offers a button reading Open <page name>. Tapping it takes you to that page in Organizely. These buttons only ever link inside the app, and Oppy never navigates for you: nothing moves until you tap.
Work checklists for long jobs
When Oppy takes on a job with several parts, it pins a work checklist above the message box, headed "Working through this list". Rows tick off as Oppy completes them, so you can see progress and what is left. When the turn finishes the pinned copy detaches and the checklist stays in the conversation. You can also mark a row done or skip it yourself.
Press Edit list to take control of the plan: rename the checklist, reorder rows, reword a row, add a row, or remove one. Press Done editing when you are finished. Rows Oppy has already applied cannot be removed or reworded.
To drop the whole thing, use Abandon checklist... in the card footer. It asks first ("Drop this checklist? Applied rows stay applied.") and then confirms: "Checklist abandoned. Nothing already applied is undone."
What Oppy has learned about you
Oppy keeps a memory of durable preferences and facts about how you work, so you do not have to repeat yourself in every chat. You can review it at Oppy AI > Settings, in the Memory card above the chat settings card.
The card explains what it holds: what Oppy has learned about how you like to be helped, from your past chats, calls, and texts. It never stores your business data.
Each remembered item has a Forget this preference button. Oppy confirms with "Forgotten."
Once there is something to clear, Clear all appears in the card header. Press it, then Confirm , and Oppy replies "Cleared everything Oppy had learned."
Oppy holds at most a dozen of these at a time, and drops anything it has not seen reaffirmed in about 90 days.
Memory is per person. Each member of your team sees only their own, and no one sees anyone else's.
The Custom Instructions field on the chat settings card is separate and unchanged: use it for standing instructions you want to give Oppy yourself, and use the Memory card to review what Oppy picked up on its own.
Drafting an SOP with Oppy
You can start a standard operating procedure with Oppy instead of a blank editor. In the SOPs library, open the New SOP menu and choose Create with AI. The other option, From scratch, opens the usual title and folder dialog. If your plan or access does not include Oppy, you will see the plain New SOP button only.
Choosing Create with AI opens the Oppy panel with a message already written but not sent:
Hi Oppy, help me create an SOP. Ask me what the procedure covers, then draft it with clear numbered steps, any safety callouts, and the materials or tools each step needs.
Read it, edit it if you want, then press send. Oppy interviews you about the procedure and drafts it with numbered steps, safety callouts, and the materials or tools each step needs, including generated illustration figures.
The drafted SOP arrives as an approval card, so nothing is created until someone approves it. Any figures Oppy generated render compactly in the chat just above that card, so the approver can see the images they are approving. Oppy can also propose updating or deleting an SOP, creating and editing SOP folders, attaching or detaching SOP files, and linking an SOP to a purchase order, all through the same approval flow.
Tips
Be specific about location, supplier, and date range. It is faster than correcting the answer afterwards.
If Oppy is heading the wrong way, send guidance mid-answer rather than stopping and retyping the whole request.
Use Rewind to clean up a conversation that went sideways, then re-ask, and check Oppy AI > Approvals separately for anything that was already applied.
Verify anything you are about to act on. Oppy drafts and proposes; you approve.
