You can reach Oppy without opening Organizely at all. Verify your phone number, then call Oppy and talk to it out loud, or text it like a coworker. Calls are transcribed into your private Oppy chat, and texts land in that same chat. Everything lives on one page: Oppy AI > Phone.
Before you start
Oppy AI is available on the Pro, Scale and Enterprise plans.
Verification is per person, not per store. Each team member binds their own phone number, and a verified number belongs to exactly one person, so your number only ever reaches your own Oppy chat.
Calling and texting are verified separately: the call setup asks for a PIN, and the text setup captures a separate consent. Doing one does not switch on the other.
What SMS is used for is set for the whole organization on this page. See "Choose what SMS is used for" below.
The page introduces itself with: "Call or text Oppy from your verified phone. Calls are transcribed into your private chat; texts let you chat with Oppy and get stock alerts. Message & data rates may apply; reply STOP any time to opt out."
Call Oppy on the phone
What you can ask on a call
Call Oppy and speak normally. You can ask about stock, orders and suppliers, and you can ask Oppy to do things. Oppy answers out loud in a spoken voice and greets you by name once it knows who is calling. Everything said on the call is transcribed into your private Oppy chat, so you can read the conversation back in the app afterwards. If the call staged any changes, Oppy says so on the line and they wait for you on the Approvals page.
Anything Oppy decides to change from a call still has to be approved in the app. Actions started by voice never apply automatically, no matter how your approval policy is set.
Set up your phone number
Go to Oppy AI > Phone and find the Phone card in the Calls section.
Enter your phone number in international E.164 format (the field shows +15551234567 as an example).
Choose a Voice PIN : 4 to 6 digits. You will key this in on future calls.
Press Get verification code . The app shows a 6-digit code once, with a live countdown, plus a number you can tap to call.
From the phone you are verifying, call that number, key in the 6-digit code on the keypad, and press # (pound). Oppy confirms you are verified and asks you to call back when you want to talk.
Back in the app, press I've entered the code, check status .
Once verified, the card shows your number, the date it was verified and "PIN set", along with a Remove phone action if you ever want to unbind it.
The 6-digit verification code is shown only once and cannot be displayed again. If you lose it or it expires, generate a new one.
What happens on future calls
On every call after setup, Oppy asks for your Voice PIN: enter it on the keypad and press #. A first-time caller hears something like: "Hi [name]! You've reached Oppy, the automated assistant for [org]. Whenever you're ready, go ahead and enter your PIN on the keypad, then press pound." After the PIN is accepted, Oppy says "You're all set. How can I help?" and the conversation begins. Regular callers get a shorter, more familiar greeting that still asks for the PIN.
If Oppy does not recognize the number you are calling from, it asks for the 6-digit verification code instead.
Calls have a ten-minute limit. Oppy mentions it as the limit approaches and you can pick the conversation back up in the app.
Text Oppy
What texting gives you
Once your mobile number is verified, and Oppy conversations over SMS is on for your organization, you can text Oppy questions and get replies by SMS. Texts and calls share the same Oppy chat, so you can read the whole thread in the app.
Verify a mobile number for texting
Go to Oppy AI > Phone and find the Text messaging card in the Texts section.
Enter your mobile number in E.164 format in the Mobile number (E.164) field.
Tick the consent checkbox: "I agree to receive automated account and assistant text messages from Organizely at this number. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
Press Send code , then enter the 6-digit code we text you and press Verify . The code is good for 10 minutes.
You can take a number off this card at any time with Remove. You can also text STOP from the phone itself to opt out, START to opt back in, and HELP to get a short reply explaining what the messages are and how to stop them. If you opted out and then try to verify again, the app tells you to reply START from that phone first.
The app also tells you when something has gone wrong: the number is already verified, the number belongs to another team member, the number has opted out, a code was just sent and you need to wait a moment before asking for another, the code was wrong or has expired, or there have been too many attempts. If you hit a limit, wait a little and try again.
Choose what SMS is used for
The Channel settings card has two switches that apply to the whole organization:
Oppy conversations over SMS : "Let verified users text the assistant and get replies."
Stock alerts over SMS : "Send low-stock and reorder alerts as text messages."
Turn on only what your team wants. The two switches are independent of each other.
See what was sent and received
The Recent activity table on the same page logs recent messages for your organization, with columns for When, Direction, Status and Message. It is the quickest way to check whether a message went out and whether a reply came back.
Standard carrier message and data rates apply to texts you send and receive. Organizely does not control what your mobile plan charges.
Approvals still apply
Phone and SMS are new ways to talk to Oppy, not a way around approvals. Any change Oppy proposes from a call or a text is staged as an approval card that someone reviews in the app, and voice-started actions can never be set to apply automatically.
